Cantaloupe for dogs is a tasty, healthy treat, and this recipe for homemade dried cantaloupe makes it even easier to store. Plus, it’s a healthy treat for the humans, too.

Ingredients

  • 1 Ripe Cantaloupe or Honeydew Melon

Equipment

Instructions

Scrub melon thoroughly before cutting.

Cut melon in half and remove seeds.

Cut each half into thirds (or whatever width will fit nicely in your mandoline).

Peel the melon and then slice carefully, making each piece between 1/8 and 1/4″ thick.

Place melon slices onto dehydrator trays, taking care to leave space between each piece for circulation.

Fire up the dehydrator at a gentle 130º. Check the cantaloupe after 4 hours (ours took 8 hours to dry thoroughly.)

Allow melon to cool completely, then store in an airtight container.
