Warm weather is on its way, and that means it’s time to get outside! Here at Rover, we’re always looking for new ways to be active with our dogs, and this Burley Tail Wagon Bike Trailer turned out to be just the thing we were looking for.

We wanted to test a bike trailer with some of our senior office dogs, and we dug around to find the best options out there. We kept coming back to one top choice: Burley. When they sent us a trailer to review, we gave it a test spin to see whether it lived up to the hype.
Pros and Cons
The attention to detail in the design helps this trailer stand out for ease of use, durability, and a smooth ride. We were impressed by:

- Removable floor for easy cleaning
- It’s ready to bike! It includes hitch, tow arm, and safety flag
- Spacious interior with 75 lb. carrying capacity
The only real downside to the Tail Wagon is the price. At $399, it’s definitely a splurge for most pet parents. That said, thanks to its quality construction and versatility, the investment is worth it for dog owners who cycle regularly and want to bring along their small to medium-sized dogs.
The Test Ride
This cart is a seriously smooth ride. One of our employee testers took all three of her dogs for a spin, and they settled in comfortably. Prissy, the senior dachshund, and Shirley, her senior pug sister, don’t usually get to go on adventures. This trailer made it possible to bring them along safely.
Not only is the Burley a great option for dog owners who want to bring their dogs on adventures, it’s great for aging pets. With attachable stroller wheels, the cart quickly transforms into a stroller for your dog.
In fact, it was a great option for Prissy the dachshund after emergency surgery. With an abscess on her hip, she was given strict orders to stay in her crate, but it was hard for her—especially while her dog siblings enjoyed the sunshine. The stroller wheel option allowed her to go outside while still remaining inactive for recovery.
The Bottom Line
The Burley Tail Wagon Bike Trailer is a specialty product, for sure, and it’s not for every pet parent. But if you’re in the market for a doggy bike trailer, well, you really can’t beat it.
