He chews on this duck and tries to rip it apart but surprisingly the duck is winning. I don’t allow him to use it as an actual long term chew toy though. You can choose to put an empty water bottle inside to give your dog something to really go after, and replace it when it’s been chewed flat—or you can leave the duck empty. As with pretty much every soft toy, it’s not going to last long with tough chewers.
Helpful review: “Marla and Marla’s dad play tug of war with ducky. We left him empty although you can put an empty plastic bottle inside. Marla prefers unstuffed toys that she can fight with dad over and I prefer unstuffed so I’m not picking stuffing up off the floor. This is a huge win for us!”
Made for hunters who use their dogs to retrieve ducks, there’s nothing to say you can’t use this durable toy for a game of fetch, too. The ends are hard, while the middle is soft, and dogs seem to love how authentically bird-like the toy feels.
Helpful review: “My usually lazy 7-year-old golden retriever goes nuts for this mallard! We didn’t even know she could bark until we witnessed her excitement for this duck. All the other dogs want to play with it too! Very life like and would highly recommend. It’s expensive for a “dog toy” so if you think your dog will be more interested in chewing it up probably not a cost-effective option.”

She ends up chewing the tail off the raccoon so the squeaker quits, so after a year or two, we have to buy another one. I looked high and low after the first one wore out and then my daughter found it on Amazon. I hope they don’t stop making this thing because my dog would be crushed.”
This classic duck dog toy is still a bestseller. It’s larger than many dog toys and while a plush toy (so not as durable as other materials), holds up well for most dogs. Dogs love to shake and squeak it, and, apparently, take naps with it.
Helpful review: “This toy was a hit from the moment my poodle saw it. He loves it and has three of them. He’s like a child when he plays with them. In the evening he puts them to sleep in one of his dog beds and covers them up. Sometimes he climbs in among them and goes to sleep. It’s a wonderful toy. I’m so glad I found it for him.”
